Dangerous Clay
by J. Elliot Riley
An exciting and gripping thriller, Dangerous Clay follows Agent Ryan Solstice as he is tasked to hunt down the most dangerous killer in the world. Solstice, a man who has struggled finding himself for years, must put aside his personal troubles in order to find the elusive assassin with no identity. Through his travels Ryan will come to learn more about his own identity than he ever thought possible from a killer who has none. Both suspenseful and mysterious, Dangerous Clay is an absolutely stunning entrance into the world e-novels for J. Elliot Riley that grabs hold of its readers and never lets go.
As a friend and colleague of J. Elliot Riley, I was fortunate enough to be tasked with proofreading and editing Dangerous Clay before it was shipped off for formatting. I was absolutely entranced by the novel from start to finish, completely engaged in Solstice’s personal strife while simultaneously intrigued by the world created by Riley. I was enjoying the book not only as a friend of the author but as a completely anonymous reader as well. Fans of conspiracies, science fiction, suspense, and thrillers will all fall in love with Dangerous Clay as Riley has masterfully weaved all four genres together for a provocative and fascinating story.
The Psychopathic Test: A Journey through the Madness Industry
by Jon Ronson
From the author of The Men Who Stare At Goats and Them: Adventures with Extremists comes The Psychopathic Test: A Journey through the Madness Industry. In this work, investigative journalist Jon Ronson embarks on the daunting adventure of discovering and understanding madness in high society. With the help of an influential psychologist, Ronson discovers that many “very important people” may, in fact, be hiding their psychopathic tendencies while controlling their position of power. The Psychopathic Test is a mind-opening adventure from start to finish, presenting frightening details about those we entrust with the power to run the world as we know it.
I was fortunate enough to discover The Psychopathic Test: A Journey through the Madness Industry after watching Jon Ronson’s interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show a few weeks back. Fortunately, I found myself in a book store the next day and immediately picked up a copy. For the next week I was deeply engaged in Ronson’s journey through the madness industry, ultimately becoming convinced that everyone I knew was stark raving mad. While this is obviously not true (or is it?), the book is certainly extremely informative and eye-opening, allowing its readers a deeper look into troubled minds, both the ones we do and do not know about.
Wuthering Heights
by Emily Bronte
A classic tale of dark romance and obsession, Wuthering Heights chronicles the troubled romance between the adopted Heathcliff and his sister Catherine. Set against the moody and tempestuous setting of the Yorkshire moors, Emily Bronte’s famous novel depicts the beauties of blossoming love and the pangs of betrayal in an elegant manner found only through the writings of the Bronte sisters. First published in 1847, Wuthering Heights was an instant classic amongst readers and critics alike and remains today as one of the seminal Victorian novels.
I was first introduced to Wuthering Heights by Dr. Amy King while I attended her Victorian Literature course during my tenure at St. John’s University. It immediately became one of my favorite novels that I frequently find myself re-reading passages from and citing as one of the great works of literature. Fans of Victorian literature and romance novels will both find a classic in Wuthering Heights and I can not recommend the book highly enough.
