I know this isn’t the post I promised a few weeks ago about my opinions on the Watchmen prequels, but I am here to tell you that my first official post on The Spoils Web Blarg is now live. The post features my history with The Spoils as both a player and a judge, chronicling my path to become the first Judge of Great Justice. If you don’t already know the story, be sure to check it out over on the Blarg.
Also, I promise I will have the post regarding the Watchmen up by the end of February. I’ve been rather busy with a few editing projects and potential jobs as of late and haven’t had much time for my own writing, but quite a few of these matters should wrap up this week. Expect to see this Blarg updated much more regularly from March onward, even if I do get the day-job I’m interviewing for later today.
Wish me luck!
As I mentioned in a previous post, one of my upcoming projects is to provide exciting new written content for TheSpoils.com. Today marks the first step towards completing that goal.
Starting today The Blarg has been revived and will feature new content every Tuesday. This content will be a series of rotating articles written by four members of The Spoils staff, including myself.
If you’re at all interested in checking out the Blarg, or just want an idea of what is in store for its future, check out my introductory post here.
Before I dive into working on a website for a my friend Dan for the day, I thought I’d take a moment to give you all an update on how things have been going the past two weeks since I made my resolutions. My apologies for my lack of posts this past week. I have been rather busy working on the next expansion set for The Spoils and haven’t had as much time to write as I would like.
I did, however, find the time to write up a new tournament report for Diannara.com. In the report I cover a recent Battlegrounds Tournament held at Grasshopper’s Comics and detail each of my matches. To read the full report and my thoughts on the matches, click here.
Next week I hope to get back on schedule with a few posts. I will likely e writing up another tournament report for Diannara as I am expecting to be playing in another event when this post is published. I also have a lot to say about Frank Miller’s recent comments regarding the Occupy Wall Street movement, so expect see a piece about why I think he should keep his mouth shut, or at the very least choose his words more carefully.
Until then, though, be sure to enjoy this Autumn weather while getting yourself ready for the upcoming holiday season.
Just wanted to let you all know that my newest article for Diannara.com has been posted to the main page. The article, “Throne of Tides Metagame Predictions,” focuses on how I think the metagame will shift with the release of Throne of Tides and its partner sets later on in the block. If you’re one of the players worried about Monster heroes and allies I definitely suggest reading this article as I give a few reasons why players shouldn’t be too worried about the Monsters.
Check out the article if you want my take on how the metagame will change over the course of next year or so.
A small update to let you know that my latest article for Diannara.com has been posted to the main page. In this article I discuss the important advantages of drawing cards rather than discarding your opponent’s. If you are new to card gaming or the World of Warcraft TCG, this is a great article for you as many new players fall prey to the illusions of discard decks.
If you want to know why you should always be drawing cards, read the article here.
Just taking a moment to let you all know that my latest article, The Art of Playtesting, is now live on Diannara.com. In this article I cover some of the playtesting strategies I”ve learned over the years and provide tips on how to best maximize your playtesting time. If you are new to playing the Constructed format of any game, this article would certainly be a big help for you as it outlines everything you need to know about modifying and improving your decks.
Feel free to check out the article over on Diannara.com here.
Today marks the e-publishing of the first article in my new series on Diannara.com. The new series, Don’t Worry About It, is focused on exposing why some cards and combos that are overly hyped are not as powerful as the World of Warcraft community thinks they are. In these articles I will be breaking the cards and combos down to their very core, analyzing each characteristic and how those elements impact particular decks and the metagame as a whole. With this information I will explain why I don’t think these cards are terribly important and at all, hopefully enlightening some players. At the very least, I imagine these articles will start some interesting discussions with those who disagree with me.
My article today features Alana the Woebringer, a preview card from the upcoming Throne of Tides expansion. If you’re at all interested in why I think this card will be forgotten only two weeks after Throne of Tides hits the shelves, feel free to give the article a read.
Just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I’ve posted my first article on Diannara.com. This article is the first of many to come for Diannara, and you can expect at least one article every week. My weekly articles are likely to go up every Monday so be sure to head back to Diannara at least once a week to read my new post.
In my article this week, Understanding Your Metagame, I discuss the definition of “metagame” as it pertains to collectible card games and break down the various forms of “metagaming” there are. While this may be old news to some people, be sure to check out the article if you are new to card gaming or the concept of the metagame.
